A 34-year-old man is accused of killing his wife near Tathahalli village in Chikkaballapur district and then surrendering at a police station.

A shocking incident has come to light in Karnataka. A man is accused of murdering his wife on the outskirts of Tathahalli village in Chikkaballapur district. After the killing, he phoned his mother-in-law himself to tell her, and then went to a police station and surrendered. The incident has caused a sensation across the area.

The incident is said to have taken place on November 5. Chandra, 34, attacked his 30-year-old wife, Padma, with a sharp weapon. Immediately afterwards, the accused called his mother-in-law, Narasamma. On the phone he said, "I have killed your daughter Padma." According to another account, he told her, "Your daughter has been killed."

After informing his mother-in-law, Chandra did not flee. He went straight to a nearby police station and confessed that he had killed his wife. Gauribidanur Rural police then arrested him.

According to relatives, Chandra and Padma had been married for several years and have three children. Relatives say Chandra was involved with a woman named Shwetha, who lives in Goramunahalli, and that the couple often quarrelled over this. Elders of the family had also counselled Chandra about it, but he paid no heed.

According to information given by relatives, a member of the family had died on November 4, because of which everyone in the household had gone out. It is alleged that Chandra took advantage of this to send his mother-in-law away as well and took Padma to a deserted field. The field had been bought by Padma's parents. There, Padma was struck on the neck and body with a sharp weapon and died.

After phoning his mother-in-law from the cashew field, Chandra went straight to the police station. Police reached the spot, took Padma's body into custody and sent it for post-mortem. Police are searching for the weapon used in the killing. Further legal action in the case is under way.
