J&K: BJP MLA's son goes missing, found hours later in Delhi
Aditya Sharma, son of Hiranagar MLA Vijay Sharma, went missing after leaving for badminton and was traced to Delhi within hours.
The sudden disappearance of Aditya Sharma, son of BJP MLA Vijay Sharma from the Hiranagar seat in Jammu and Kashmir, triggered panic across the area. Within a few hours, however, police managed to trace him. As news of his disappearance spread, speculation ranged from abduction to alleged terror links, but the police team located him within hours. During the investigation it emerged that he was in Delhi, and police took him into custody from there.
According to information received, Aditya had left home on Tuesday evening to play badminton. He did not return home after playing, and his phone was switched off. His family immediately went to the police station and filed a complaint. Different teams, including police, officials and the army, joined the search for the MLA's son, and various speculations began.
Aditya Sharma studies at a private school in Hiranagar. After school, he had come home and later that evening had gone to play badminton at another private school academy in the area. When he did not return home late into the night, his family called him, but he did not receive the call. On calling the academy, it emerged that he had never gone there. His friends were also called, but they had no information about him.
When there was no trace of Aditya for several hours, Vijay Sharma's family contacted the police, who immediately began action. A search operation was launched in Kathua and Jammu, and a high alert was issued across the area. Several police teams were formed to trace Aditya Kumar, a class 11 student, and they began a swift search.
All CCTV footage was scanned, in which Aditya was last seen around 4:15 pm boarding a bus from his native village of Hiranagar to Jammu. Police questioned the driver and conductor to determine where he had gone. According to sources, police teams also checked CCTV footage from various other locations to track his movements after he was last seen.
CCTV footage from the bus station, railway station and all roads leading out of the city was examined. Eventually, the investigation revealed that he was in Delhi, and police took him into custody from there. Vijay Sharma is a lawyer by profession. He has previously served as BJP's district president in Kathua and as state secretary of the BJP's Jammu and Kashmir unit. He is also a member of the party's national council.
