Jio launches Rs 51 add-on pack for unlimited 5G data on base plans
Jio's new Rs 51 booster gives unlimited 5G data to prepaid users on an eligible base plan, valid only as long as that plan is active.
Reliance Jio has launched a Rs 51 5G plan for its prepaid SIM users. For those who want to use the company's 5G speed at a lower cost, this prepaid plan could prove a good deal. Reliance Jio periodically brings out low-cost recharge plans to attract users.
High-speed internet is now needed everywhere, whether for studies, work from home or entertainment. Keeping this demand in mind, Jio has added a very cheap add-on pack worth just Rs 51 to its "True Unlimited Upgrade" portfolio. The plan is meant to give high-speed connectivity to users who want unlimited 5G data every day without recharging with an expensive monthly plan.
This Jio booster pack gives users unlimited 5G high-speed data. In addition, if a user is ever in an area with only 4G network coverage, the pack also gives 3GB of extra 4G data for emergency use. Once this 3GB of 4G data is used up, internet speed drops to 64Kbps. Importantly, this Rs 51 pack does not have its own separate validity; instead, its validity is the same as the remaining validity of the user's active base plan.
This plan is not for all Jio users. The Rs 51 plan is not a separate recharge but a data booster add-on. It can only benefit prepaid users who already have an active base plan with up to a month's validity that gives 1.5GB of data per day.
Users who already have an eligible plan giving 2GB or more data per day are already getting unlimited 5G at no extra charge. To use this facility, a customer must also have a 5G smartphone and be in a Jio 5G coverage area.
To check whether the Jio True 5G network is available in an area, users need to open the MyJio app, go to the mobile section and tap the "True 5G" option. The "Check 5G Readiness" feature in this section will instantly scan the device and area coverage. If the 5G phone is supported and the user has an active monthly pack with 1.5GB per day, a Rs 51 recharge can instantly unlock unlimited 5G service for a month.
