Jamui molestation case: two accused injured in police encounter while trying to flee

Two men accused of molesting a minor schoolgirl in Bihar's Jamui district were injured while allegedly trying to flee police.

A major update has come in the Jamui district case in which a video of a minor schoolgirl being molested went viral on social media, drawing sharp criticism of the Bihar government and police. Two main accused in the case have been injured in an alleged encounter with police. Both accused, Nandan Yadav and Hareram Yadav, are adults and residents of Pratappur village. Both are said to work as tractor drivers.

According to information received, Bihar Police launched a manhunt for the accused as soon as the video went viral, raiding various likely hideouts across the district. During this operation, an encounter was reported between a police team and the accused near Kundar Barrack. While attacking police and trying to flee, Nandan Yadav was shot in the leg, while Hareram Yadav fell while fleeing and broke his leg. However, senior police officers have not yet issued any official confirmation of the encounter.

After the encounter, both injured accused were admitted to Jamui Sadar Hospital under police guard, with heavy police deployment outside the hospital. A video has also surfaced showing the accused being taken to the hospital. A total of six accused have been arrested in the case so far, while the SIT (Special Investigation Team) is searching for the one remaining accused.

According to police, the incident took place around 7 pm on 19 September. At that time, a group of people forcibly stopped a minor boy studying in class 10 and a girl who were on a scooter near Madwa hill. The accused molested the victim in an objectionable manner and also assaulted both of them. The accused then made a video of the entire incident go viral on the internet, following which criticism of the Bihar government began pouring in from across the country. The police administration then launched a major and strict crackdown against the accused.
