Itel, counted among the leading consumer electronics brands in the value segment, has announced that its customer base in India has reached 15 crore (150 million). The company calls this a historic milestone in its 10 years in the country. It says that from first-time smartphone users in small towns to those moving from feature phones to smartphones, and millions of Indian households using more electronics at home, Itel has become part of their lives.

According to Counterpoint Research, Itel is India's number one feature phone brand with a 36% market share. In the overall segment of phones priced under Rs 10,000, the brand leads with a 34% market share.

Keeping its "Made to Last" idea at the front, Itel has not limited itself to mobile phones. The company has expanded rapidly into several electronics categories such as televisions, home appliances, speakers and accessories. As proof of durability, features such as IP ratings and MIL-STD certification have been added to phones such as the City 300 5G and the Power 80 5G.

In addition, eligible models come with a 100-day free screen replacement facility. The company also has a counter-replacement programme, and its feature phone Aqua, Tough and Care innovation series. Through all this, the company says it offers customers easily accessible after-sales service and assurance.

On the occasion, Arijeet Talapatra, CEO of Itel India, said, "This milestone of 15 crore customers is a sign of the unwavering trust that Indian families have placed in Itel over the last ten years. It is an acknowledgement of our efforts to understand the changing needs of Indian customers and to provide reliable and affordable technology that matches their everyday lives and aspirations."

He added, "Expanding into different product categories linked to the needs of Indian households, from mobile phones to televisions and home appliances, has been an important part of our journey. In the next phase too, our focus will remain on delivering more useful technology and better experiences to customers across India."

In a recent study by CyberMedia Research, Itel ranked first in the smartphone category with a score of 0.86. It led the smart devices category with a score of 0.88. According to the study's findings, 85% of customers rated Itel's products as excellent value for money. 81% of customers associated the brand's identity with strength and durability, and 74% described Itel as a highly trustworthy brand.

With a network of more than 1,000 service centres across the country, Itel is set to launch new products in the smartphone, television and home appliance categories in the coming period. The company says it is committed to taking modern technology to as many Indian households as possible.
