The Indian women's hockey team's winning run at the Asian Games 2026 shows no sign of stopping. After beating Uzbekistan and Indonesia, Team India thrashed Thailand by a huge margin of 20-1 on Wednesday. The Pool B match lasted 60 minutes, with the Indian team dominant throughout.

Deepika Sehrawat scored the most goals for India, netting nine on her own. Navneet Kaur scored four goals, while Rutuja Pisal scored three. Lalremsiami, Neha, Sakshi and Salima scored one goal each.

Deepika broke her own previous record in this match. She had scored eight goals earlier against Uzbekistan. Deepika has now become the player with the most goals in a single women's hockey match at the Asian Games. The Indian team has played three matches at the Asian Games so far and won all three, scoring a total of 56 goals across them. The team's next match will be against Japan on September 25.

India took the lead early in the match. Deepika Sehrawat put India ahead in the second minute. Navneet Kaur doubled the lead in the fourth minute. Deepika then scored two goals in a row in the eighth and ninth minutes. The Indian players kept scoring goal after goal, building a mountain of goals against Thailand. Experienced midfielder Neha scored in the 19th minute, Lalremsiami in the 26th minute, Sakshi Rana in the 29th minute, and captain Salima Tete in the 45th minute.

India's dominance in the first three quarters was so complete that Thailand could not score even a single goal. Thailand got a chance to open their account only in the fourth quarter. Shortly before the match ended, Thailand won a penalty corner, and in the 57th minute Supansa Samansor scored off a drag-flick for Thailand's only goal. Despite this, the Indian team kept full control of the match and won 20-1. This was India's third win in Pool B, after having beaten Indonesia 17-1 earlier.

The Indian women's hockey team had won bronze at the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, but this time the team is aiming for gold. India won women's hockey's first Asian Games gold medal at the 1982 Delhi Asian Games, and the team has been waiting for its second gold medal since then.
