The illegal liquor trade has spread rapidly in Pachgaon village of Rajura taluka, ruining several households, according to a memorandum submitted by Tirupati Malayyaji Indurbar, chairman of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC), Rajura, to the Superintendent of Police, Chandrapur district. He has demanded that illegal liquor sale be stopped immediately and legal action taken against those involved.

The memorandum states that some people are selling liquor illegally in the Pachgaon area, which is having a bad effect on the social atmosphere of the village. It expresses concern that rising addiction, especially among the youth, could seriously affect their health, family life and social future.

According to the memorandum, a 21 year old resident of Pachgaon, Kailas Santosh Todetiwar, died by suicide by consuming poison while under the influence of alcohol on 20 September 2026. APMC chairman Tirupati Indurbar has requested the Superintendent of Police to take immediate cognisance of the matter and issue necessary instructions to the concerned police officers as well as the State Excise Department, so that permanent measures can be taken to prevent such illegal liquor sale from recurring. A copy of the memorandum has also been given to the Superintendent of the State Excise Department, Chandrapur, with a demand for necessary legal action.

Member of Parliament Pratibhatai Dhanorkar has advised the Superintendent of Police to take strict action against the guilty in the case and to step up regular police patrolling to effectively prevent the illegal sale, storage and transport of liquor.

Present on the occasion were MP Pratibhatai Dhanorkar, Youth Congress district president Shantanu Dhote, women's district president advocate Kundatai Jenekar, Rajura Congress taluka president Ranjan Lande, city president Harjeetsingh Sandhu, corporator Ejaz Ahmed, municipal council chairperson Poonam Girsawale, Annutai Sandhu, corporator Indubai Nikode, Mangala Mokde, Poornima Soyam, Sumitrabai Kuchankar, Sanghpal Dethe, Kunal Mokle, and several other office bearers and workers of the Rajura Congress.
