Hruta Durgule on trolling over her marriage, weight gain and future motherhood
Actress Hruta Durgule says trolling no longer affects her as it once did, and that she has not responded to such criticism and will not.
Actress Hruta Durgule is in the news for her film "Aali Mothi Shahani". In an interview, she spoke candidly about trolling on social media, and about the criticism over her marriage, weight gain and future motherhood.
Hruta said trolling on social media is increasing by the day and many artistes have to face it. In her early days, trolling used to trouble her a great deal. Now, however, she pays little attention to what people say on social media. Because she is not very active on social media, trolling does not affect her as it used to.
She said, "I said just yesterday that trolling is very boring. I feel that you sit anywhere, comment and say very bad things. As human beings, what we can do is treat each other well. Criticising women is really very bad."
Hruta also spoke about her journey. She went from girl to woman on television itself. She said weight gain is also a normal part of life during this phase. Even so, she was trolled on social media when she put on weight.
"When I started, I was 17 years old and now I am double that age. The journey from girl to woman has happened on television. There is a phase in life when your weight goes up. When my weight went up, I was trolled a lot too. But fortunately, the people around me are very good," Hruta said.
Hruta is aware that she may be trolled on social media after becoming a mother in future. She said plainly that she could be criticised if she puts on weight after having a baby. "I will be trolled after I become pregnant, and I will be criticised after the baby is born too. How many people will you stop?" she asked.
Hruta married actor Prateek Shah. At the time, she was trolled on social media for marrying a non-Marathi man. She said, "They trolled me saying I married early. Then they trolled me because I married a man with the surname Shah. So what is there to say about this now."
Hruta Durgule made it clear that she had not reacted to any of this earlier and will not do so in future. "I have never reacted to this before and will not in future," she said.
