Changing weather, mental stress, nutrient deficiency and frequent use of chemical shampoos soon show their effect on hair growth. When hair deteriorates, people turn to expensive hair care products from the market, yet the quality of their hair does not improve. When hair turns dry or lifeless, hair treatments are used to make it smooth and shiny, but these do not show much effect on the hair.
It is therefore suggested that a natural shampoo made at home be used instead of expensive market shampoos. It is said that this shampoo will help hair growth and make hair look shinier.
Four ingredients are needed to make the shampoo: soapnut (reetha) shells, shikakai, amla powder and water.
First, put the soapnut shells in a large bowl and soak them overnight. Add the shikakai and amla powder to the same bowl. After soaking overnight, put the whole mixture in a vessel and heat it on the gas stove. After boiling for 15 to 20 minutes, the extract of these ingredients will have come out into the water.
Then let the mixture cool and mash it with a spoon or by hand. After that, strain it and fill it in a glass bottle. The natural shampoo is thus ready quickly.
While washing hair, first wet it with water. Then apply a small amount of shampoo and massage gently. It is said that the massage will reduce the dandruff sticking to the scalp and clean the hair from within. Afterwards, wash the hair with plain water.
Because of the soapnut shells, the shampoo will not lather much, so do not use too much of it. If the hair is very dry or tangles easily, applying conditioner after the shampoo is said to be necessary, otherwise the hair will become even drier. It is said that this shampoo, rich in natural ingredients, will help improve the damaged quality of hair.
The prepared shampoo should not be used for more than two weeks. It is better to make only as much as is enough for a week. Homemade shampoo contains no preservatives and can therefore spoil, so take full care while using it.
People with sensitive skin may experience increased dryness or irritation of the scalp. Use only the correct quantities while making the shampoo.
