Honor Magic 9 Super Edition launched in China with 11,000mAh battery and 6.81-inch OLED display

Tech company Honor has launched three smartphones of its Magic 9 series in its home market, China. The series includes the Honor Magic 9, the Magic 9 Pro Max and the Magic 9 Super Edition. This report looks at the Super Edition, its price, features and specifications.
Honor has introduced the Super Edition in three RAM and storage variants. The 12GB+256GB variant is priced at 4,499 yuan, about Rs 54,000. The 12GB+512GB variant costs 4,999 yuan, about Rs 63,000. The top 16GB+512GB variant costs 5,499 yuan, about Rs 72,000. It comes in four colours: Popcorn Yellow, Curtain Black, Opening Statement and Olive Green.
The phone has a 6.81-inch OLED screen with a resolution of 2788 x 1280 and a 120Hz refresh rate. It supports 1.07 billion colours. Peak brightness reaches 10,000 nits. The screen-to-body ratio is 95.5 per cent, and the bezels are a narrow 1.03mm.
The biggest highlight of the phone is its 11,000mAh battery, which supports 80W wired and 50W wireless charging. It is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage.
The camera system has a 200-megapixel Samsung S5KHP5 primary camera. The image sensor is 1/1.55-inch in size, with an f/1.9 aperture and optical image stabilisation. There is also a 50-megapixel Sony Lytia 500 telephoto lens supporting 3x optical zoom and OIS. A 12-megapixel ultrawide camera with autofocus is also included. A 50-megapixel camera handles selfies and video calls.
On the software side, the phone runs MagicOS 11, based on Android 17. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, NFC, an IR blaster and dual SIM. A wind-tunnel fan is fitted for cooling. The phone also has an optical fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers and IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings.
