Electric scooters are no longer limited to short rides within the city. Whether it is a daily office commute, household errands, family outings or slightly longer distances, customers are now looking at EVs for every kind of need. In this context, the entry of the Honda QC3 is seen as significant. It is priced at around Rs 1.35 lakh, Delhi ex-showroom, and comes with a fixed 3kWh battery, a 145km IDC range and 32 litres of boot space. It competes with the TVS iQube 3.1kWh, Bajaj Chetak C3502, VIDA VX2 Plus 3.4kWh and Ather Konark S 161.

With a claimed range of 145km and 32 litres of storage, the Honda QC3 can be useful for both the daily office commute and household errands. It gets a smart key, a 5-inch TFT display, RoadSync connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation. The company claims it takes 2 hours 40 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 percent. Its larger storage could be an advantage for family use, though full details of its top speed and motor output have not yet been revealed.

The TVS iQube comes with a 3.1kWh battery, a claimed range of 123km, a top speed of 82kmph and 32 litres of boot space. For those who commute 30 to 50km daily for office, this range can work well with home charging. TVS's large service network is also a key factor.

The Bajaj Chetak C3502 gets a 3.5kWh battery, a 153km IDC range, a top speed of 80kmph and 35 litres of boot space. Its metal body gives it a premium feel. Its larger boot and good range can be useful for daily family use, office commuting and comparatively longer rides. It takes 3 hours 25 minutes to charge from 0 to 80 percent.

The VIDA VX2 Plus offers a 3.4kWh battery, a 146km range and a top speed of 80kmph. Its battery is removable, making it a useful option for households without parking-side charging. The Ather Konark S 161, on the other hand, has a 3.5kWh battery and the highest claimed range at 161km, which can appeal to those with a longer commute or higher daily running. However, its top speed is only 70kmph, and charging from 0 to 80 percent with a standard charger takes around 5 hours 40 minutes.

For family use, boot space and comfort matter; for office commuting, range and charging time are key; and for long rides, real-world range and the availability of charging on the way are important. Rather than deciding on claimed range alone, buyers should check pillion comfort, real-world range, battery warranty, service network and on-road price before buying a scooter.
