Fire guts five houses in Nagpur's Hazari Pahad area
A blaze before dawn on Monday destroyed five homes in Nagpur's Hazari Pahad, with three gas cylinders exploding but no injuries reported.
A major fire broke out around 3:30 am on Monday in the Hazari Pahad area of Nagpur, completely gutting five houses. The fire spread so fast that almost everything kept inside the homes was destroyed. Three gas cylinders exploded during the blaze, causing brief panic in the area. No one was injured.
According to the affected families, nothing survived the fire, including televisions, refrigerators, motorcycles, household items and important documents. The families have suffered heavy financial losses.
Around 4 am, Ramesh Kalmegh, general secretary of the BJP Jhopadpatti Morcha in Nagpur city, informed corporator Vijay Hole about the incident. Hole then immediately contacted the police and the fire department to arrange help at the site.
Local residents also tried to bring the fire under control. Fire engines reached the spot around 4:30 am, and the blaze was brought under control after considerable effort. The cause of the fire and the total loss are yet to be officially assessed by the concerned department.
The fire caused heavy damage to the homes of Megha Khobragade, Koti Hole, Ritesh Meshram, Mukesh Gauri and Sawant Raut. The affected families have demanded immediate financial assistance, rehabilitation and proper compensation from the administration.
