Villagers in Gondpipri have petitioned the Chandrapur District Supply Officer, alleging irregular distribution of subsidised grain by shopkeeper Shankar Gulab Kanake.

Gondpipri: Villagers of Ghadoli have taken a firm stand against their ration shop owner, alleging that the subsidised grain supplied by the government through the shop is not being distributed regularly or properly. Citing alleged irregularities in distribution and the hardship faced by beneficiaries, they have submitted a petition to the District Supply Officer, Chandrapur, seeking the permanent cancellation of the licence of shopkeeper Shankar Gulab Kanake.

According to the petition, the villagers allege that the shopkeeper has not been distributing grain as per government rules for several years. Their complaints are that beneficiaries are told the shop has no grain, are made to make repeated trips, and do not get a satisfactory answer about the distribution.

The petition states that women and men beneficiaries in particular are suffering mental distress as a result. The villagers claim that despite complaining four to five times at various levels of government over the past 15 to 16 years, no concrete action has been taken.

The petition also makes a serious allegation that in April 2026 grain was disposed of among themselves without being distributed to beneficiaries. A complaint on this matter was also submitted through a petition at the Gondpipri tehsil office on October 13, 2026.

The villagers want the administration to investigate and act. Saying that ration distribution is an important matter of food security for poor and needy families, they have asked that the inquiry be conducted on the spot and not merely on paper. They want the grain distribution records, e-PoS system transactions and beneficiaries' complaints examined, and the shopkeeper's licence cancelled permanently if he is found guilty.

The villagers are now watching how seriously the district supply department takes the complaint and what action it takes after the inquiry.
