Garbage vehicle driver attacked with bamboo, vehicle vandalised in Nagpur's Dhantoli

A driver collecting garbage in Nagpur's Dhantoli area early in the morning was attacked. A dispute that began over a complaint about a foul smell escalated into assault and vandalism. Two men who arrived in a white Bolero abused the driver, struck his wrists with a bamboo, broke the glass of the garbage vehicle and fled.

The complainant, Sanjay Khandekar, drives a waste collection vehicle in the Hanuman Nagar zone of the municipal corporation. At around 5:30 am on October 21, near the FCI godown, an argument broke out with the occupants of the Bolero over the smell coming from his vehicle.

The Bolero driver and his companion abused Sanjay. When he protested, the two took a bamboo from their vehicle and struck both his wrists. They then broke the glass of the garbage vehicle and fled the spot.

Dhantoli police have registered a case on the complaint. Police are now going through CCTV footage from the surrounding area to identify the white Bolero and the accused travelling in it.
