Gambhir says Hardik Pandya not fit enough to bowl 10 ODI overs yet
Head coach Gautam Gambhir says Hardik Pandya is not yet fit to bowl a full 10 overs in ODIs, opening the door for Nitish Kumar Reddy.
Indian cricket team's star all-rounder Hardik Pandya is not currently fully fit to bowl his full quota of 10 overs in 50-over ODI matches. This was stated by Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir himself. It has become clear that the team management is not in a mood to rush Pandya back into international cricket.
Hardik Pandya has been away from cricket since the IPL ended. Gambhir made it clear that returning directly to international cricket after a long time away from the field is not easy, since international-level matches can put considerable strain on a player's body.
Gautam Gambhir said Hardik has not played a single match since the IPL. As things stand, he is not even fit enough to bowl 10 overs in ODI matches. The pressure of the game is greater in international cricket, so the team management is not willing to increase his injury risk by rushing him into the side.
With Hardik Pandya not fully fit at present, the door has opened for young all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy in international cricket. Nitish Reddy has been included in the Indian team for the upcoming series against West Indies. Getting the chance to play in the West Indies series is a big and welcome opportunity for Nitish. In the time ahead, fast-bowling all-rounders will play an important role in Team India's combinations.
India's team for the series against West Indies has been announced. The squad includes Shubman Gill (captain), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (wicketkeeper), Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Aqib Nabi, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Naman Dhir.
This series will be very important for captain Shubman Gill. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will also be seen in action in this series. Both experienced players will look to give a strong performance in this series and answer their critics.
