Friend attacks man with knife over Rs 2,000 loan in Wathoda, one held

A dispute over a loan of just Rs 2,000 in the Wathoda police station area of Nagpur escalated so badly that a friendship turned into bloodshed. When the money was demanded back, two friends together attacked a young man with intent to kill. According to police, one accused repeatedly stabbed the young man with a knife on the neck, hand and stomach, while his associate held him from behind. The young man was badly injured in the attack.

Wathoda police have arrested one accused in the case, while the search for the second accused is still on.

Police investigation revealed that the complainant, Shailesh Meshram, and the accused, Roshan More and Anurag Dhok, already knew each other and were friends. Some time ago, Shailesh had lent Roshan about Rs 2,000 to pay an instalment on his vehicle. Later, when Shailesh called Roshan to ask for his money back, it is alleged that Roshan kept making excuses and putting him off.

According to police, about two days ago, Shailesh and the two accused had gone to a wine shop at Chamat Chowk in Wathoda. While drinking there, an argument broke out between them over the borrowed money. It is alleged that Roshan hurled abuses at Shailesh, asking why he kept bringing up the money, and clearly told him he would not return it. During this, both accused allegedly also threatened to kill Shailesh.

Police say that during the argument, Roshan pulled out a knife, while Anurag held Shailesh from behind so he could not flee. At that point, Roshan allegedly stabbed Shailesh several times on the neck, hand and stomach, leaving him seriously injured. After the attack, both accused fled the scene. The injured Shailesh was taken to hospital for treatment.

After the complaint was registered, Wathoda police filed a case and began further investigation. Police have arrested Anurag Dhok, while the main accused, Roshan More, remains at large and is being searched for. Police are further investigating the case.
