Four booked for attacking man with koyta outside Latur college
A man was seriously injured after being called to the front of Mahatma Basaweshwar College on October 4, police said.
Incidents involving sharp weapons in Latur city are in the spotlight again. On the evening of October 4, a man was called to the front of Mahatma Basaweshwar College and attacked with a koyta, leaving him seriously injured. A case has been registered against four people at Gandhi Chowk police station.
According to the complaint, Pankaj Umakant Kore had gone to the front of the college around 6.30 pm on October 4 with his son. A youth had earlier phoned him and asked him to come to the college at 6.30 pm, and Kore went there with his son accordingly.
Four men got out of an autorickshaw bearing the number MH-24-AT-3015. According to the complainant's statement, they picked a quarrel with Kore and began beating him. It is alleged that one of them struck Kore on the head with a koyta, causing a deep head injury. The complaint also says the other accused beat him with a rod and with kicks and punches.
Kore, seriously injured, was immediately admitted to hospital. Panic gripped the area for some time after the incident.
On Kore's complaint, a case has been registered at Gandhi Chowk police station against Deepak Hingmire, Vikas Hingmire, Vishal Hingmire and Baburao Hingmire. All four are said to be residents of Gavli Galli, Latur. Gandhi Chowk police are investigating further.
Separately, a killing has been reported from Bhavani Peth in Pune. A young man was killed after a minor quarrel, when he was struck on the head with a cement paver block. The incident caused alarm in the area.
The dead man has been identified as Akash alias Akya Vitthal Patole, 29, a resident of Kashewadi. Police have arrested one accused, Ajay alias Chor Raja Sukhdev Shinde, 30, of Kashewadi, Bhavani Peth. Akash's sister-in-law filed the complaint with police.
