Flydubai pilots fight in cockpit on Dubai-Tel Aviv flight, plane lands at Saudi Arabia's Tabuk

A scuffle suddenly broke out between two pilots on Flydubai flight FZ1073, which was flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv in Israel. The scuffle escalated into a knife attack. With both pilots caught up in the fight, the flying of the aircraft was neglected and the plane began to lose height rapidly.

Passengers panicked and began to shout. While the fight was still going on in the cockpit, a message went from the aircraft to the ground that it had been hijacked. The authorities immediately went into action.

They began collecting details of everyone on board and checked whether any important person was on the plane. During this, Russian media outlet Vedomosti, citing Israel's N12, said the two pilots were a Russian and a Ukrainian respectively.

After the hijack message was received, the Israeli government was immediately put on alert. Every movement of the aircraft was watched closely, as Israel has faced several such incidents before. Given the current war situation, anything could happen, and the plane's movements were tracked out of that concern. It then emerged that the aircraft could be landed at Tabuk airport in Saudi Arabia. The authorities gave the order at once and the aircraft landed there. Cancelling the flight is said to be the best course in such an emergency, and that option was chosen.

As the pilots lost control of the aircraft, it began to descend suddenly from the altitude it had reached. Normally, when an aircraft loses height, it is not brought down abruptly. Here, however, the plane came straight down rapidly, causing chaos. Everyone's oxygen masks dropped immediately. After a few seconds the pilots regained control of the aircraft and made a safe landing.
