Feeling car sick? Pack these items in your bag before travel
Ginger tablets, peppermint oil and lemon with black salt can ease motion sickness on the road
Many people enjoy travelling, but for some, riding in a car turns into an ordeal. A number of people start feeling motion sickness the moment they sit in a vehicle, with nausea, vomiting and discomfort beginning as soon as the car starts moving.
The reason behind motion sickness is simple. When the eyes sense that the body is sitting still but the ears sense the movement of the vehicle, the brain receives mixed signals. This is why a person starts feeling motion sickness as soon as they sit in a moving car. If you face this problem while travelling or riding in a vehicle, a few things can bring relief and help reduce the discomfort of motion sickness.
Ginger tablets help relieve nausea naturally. They contain gingerol, which helps calm the stomach muscles and also aids digestion. Eating a ginger tablet during or before travel can prevent motion sickness. These tablets can be taken if discomfort is felt during the journey. Put the ginger tablet in the mouth and chew it slowly.
The smell of peppermint calms the mind and brings a feeling of freshness. It also helps reduce stomach cramps. So carry peppermint oil with you while travelling. Peppermint oil is easily available in the market. Whenever you feel like vomiting, discomfort or nausea during travel, put a few drops of this oil on a handkerchief and keep smelling it.
Lemon can also prove very helpful in relieving discomfort. Lemon and black salt help ease this problem quickly. For this, keep a piece of lemon and black salt in your bag while travelling. Whenever motion sickness troubles you, black salt can be applied to a piece of lemon and eaten. Also, if you suffer from motion sickness, always try to sit near a window, and enjoy the fresh air from the window with the air conditioning turned off.
