A dispute has arisen over the borewell of the Paramapujya Sheshrao Maharaj Vyasanmukti Mandir at Vihirgaon in Gondpipri taluka. It is alleged that water is being drawn secretly from the borewell at night and used to irrigate crops in fields. Farmers and residents of the village have submitted a written complaint to the tehsildar, Gondpipri.
The complainants say the area is facing a water shortage and farmers are struggling to water their crops. In this situation, it is alleged that water is being drawn at night from the borewell on the temple premises and used for farming.
Farmers fear this will lower the water level in the borewells of neighbouring farmers and damage crops. Concern has also been expressed about an impact on the groundwater level. Farmers who are already coping with water problems could face greater difficulties.
The complaint says it is necessary to check whether the conditions imposed when permission was given to use this borewell are being followed. It demands an administrative inquiry into the method of drawing water, the permission obtained for it and the actual use of the water.
The complainants have specifically asked that the allegation of night-time drawing of water be investigated at the spot and the truth brought out. Those present when the complaint was handed to the tehsildar included Anandrao Zhade, who runs the Paramapujya Sheshrao Maharaj Vyasanmukt organisation, S. V. Dhok, Sanjay Potrajwar, Yadav Zhade, Dashrath and several farmers of the village.
The complaint also questions the role of the temple administration. It asks whether there is permission to draw water from this borewell, what the water is being used for and whether the related rules are being followed. An inquiry into these points has been sought.
These are, however, allegations made in the complaint. An official inquiry is needed to establish the facts. Responsibility can be fixed only after the concerned administration's version and the official records are examined.
The farmers and residents of Vihirgaon submitted the written complaint to the tehsildar, Gondpipri, on October 19, 2026. It seeks an inquiry into the alleged water extraction from the borewell and action under the law against those concerned if violations of rules are found.
Farmers and residents of Vihirgaon are now watching whether the tehsil administration will take note of the complaint and inspect the site. They are also watching what action will follow if violations of the water-drawing rules and permission conditions are found.
