The state government stands fully with the Charmakar community in education and advancement, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said in Nagpur. He said a memorial and auditorium for Sant Ravidas Maharaj will be built in the Babulkheda area near Nagpur, with funding from the state government.

Fadnavis also announced that a state-of-the-art e-library will be set up for students preparing for competitive exams. He said large-scale programmes will be held across the state to mark the 650th birth anniversary of Sant Ravidas Maharaj.

The announcement was made at a programme held at the Shikshak Sahakari Bank auditorium in Mahal. The programme was organised by the Charmakar Seva Sangh in memory of the late Bhanutai Gadkari, and meritorious students were felicitated at the event. Fadnavis was the chief guest, while Union Minister Nitin Gadkari presided over the programme.

Also present on the occasion were MLA Krishna Khopde, Maharashtra State Safai Karmachari Commission chairman Satish Dagor, Dayashankar Tiwari, and Charmakar Seva Sangh founder president Bhaiyyasaheb Bighane, along with a large number of people from the community. A total of 495 meritorious students were felicitated by Chief Minister Fadnavis.

Stressing on providing employment to youth alongside education in Nagpur district, Fadnavis said LIDCOM, the Sant Rohidas Leather Industries and Charmakar Development Corporation, will be restructured afresh. He said LIDCOM will be revived on the lines of BARTI and ARTI to provide training and other necessary facilities to youth from the Charmakar community.

Nitin Gadkari also addressed the youth at the programme. He said youth should not rely only on traditional degrees but should take up skill-based education. According to Gadkari, modern technology needs to be used in the leather industry and traditional crafts to create new employment opportunities through micro, small and medium enterprises.

Gadkari also said the central government is fully committed to helping women get national and international markets for handicraft and handloom products. He appealed to all the meritorious students present to contribute significantly to the progress of the country and society.
