Fadnavis orders Nagpur civic body to finish AMRIT-2 works by March 2027
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis told Nagpur civic officials to complete all AMRIT-2 works by March 2027 and fix road-levelling after digging.
All ongoing works under the AMRIT-2 scheme in Nagpur must be completed by March 2027 without exception, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed civic body officials. He also said the method of levelling roads after they are dug up must be improved immediately.
The directive came at a review meeting held at Ramgiri, chaired by the Chief Minister himself. Two key issues were taken up at the meeting: ongoing development works under AMRIT-2 in the city, and a project to end pollution in the Pohra river and revive it. Corporators also raised, ward by ward, the problems caused by road digging and subsequent levelling under the AMRIT-2 scheme.
Corporators also expressed displeasure over work being carried out by the PWD on the Ring Road. MLA Praveen Datke openly voiced his displeasure over the difficulties faced by citizens. Standing Committee chairperson Shivani Dani Vakhare told the Chief Minister about the problems people faced during the rainy season.
The meeting was attended by municipal commissioner Vipin Itankar, additional commissioner Ankit, the Chief Minister's OSD Asha Pathan, chief engineer Sambhaji Mane, executive engineer Neeta Thakare, chief engineer Leena Upadhye, along with several corporators and senior officials. The Chief Minister gave a clear directive for future road digging and levelling work, saying a joint meeting of all concerned departments should be called to frame a comprehensive and strict policy for it.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was clear in his stance on officials and contractors found negligent in their work, warning of strict action. He also said coordination among all departments involved in the works must be ensured. Commissioner Itankar gave a detailed presentation on AMRIT-2 scheme works and the project to eliminate pollution in and revive the Pohra river.
He also said sewage treatment plants are to be set up in different parts of the city. A 10 MLD capacity STP will be built at Jaitala and a 35 MLD capacity STP at Chikhli. Pumping stations will also be set up at Chichbhavan, BDPeth and Somalwada.
