An elderly farming couple, aged 75, from Sangola taluka in Solapur district have levelled serious allegations against former Nationalist Congress Party MLA Deepak Salunkhe and his son Suryaditya Salunkhe. The allegations have stirred local politics. The couple say about 20 acres of their agricultural land was first transferred to the son's name, and then to a trust, without their knowledge.

The couple say they have no children. They had given their roughly 20 acres to former MLA Deepak Salunkhe for cultivation on a sharecropping basis. They allege that the trust placed in him was exploited and the land was transferred to Suryaditya Salunkhe. The couple claim no consent was taken from them. They have submitted a complaint application to the police.

The complaint also alleges that after the couple complained, the land was transferred to a trust out of fear that the matter would come back on them. The couple claim Suryaditya Salunkhe is among those in the trust to which the land was transferred. They have demanded an inquiry into the entire transaction and that their land be returned to them.

The elderly couple also allege that pressure is being put on them after they complained against the former MLA and his family, and that their lives are under threat. They are distressed at the prospect of losing land that is rightfully theirs in old age.

In this condition, the couple went in wheelchairs to meet police officers directly and narrated their ordeal. They have appealed to the Chief Minister of the state and the administration to intervene immediately and ensure justice for them.

Following the allegations, there is much discussion in the politics of Sangola taluka. The truth of the matter will become clear only from the relevant documents and the police investigation. For now, all of these are the couple's allegations and claims.
