A shocking case has emerged from the Vishnunagar area of Dombivli, where a man stabbed his wife in a murderous attack even as divorce proceedings between the two were underway in court. According to police, the fight broke out because the wife had gone to see Ganpati Bappa with her friends. Angered by this, the husband first beat his wife and then stabbed her in the chest.

The woman was severely injured in the attack and is currently being treated at Thane Civil Hospital. Vishnunagar police have arrested the accused husband, Santosh Petekar.

According to information received, Jyoti and Santosh Petekar had a love marriage in 2009. But since the marriage, Santosh has been accused of suspecting his wife. These suspicions led to repeated fights between the two. Tired of her husband's constant harassment, Jyoti began living separately with their four children in 2020.

After separating, Jyoti was raising all four children on her own through her own hard work. Meanwhile, due to the ongoing disputes between the couple, the two were set to formally separate, and divorce proceedings had already begun in court. However, it has emerged that the accused husband continued to harass his wife even during this period.

Around this time, Jyoti had gone with her friends to see Ganpati Bappa. Harbouring anger over this, Santosh went to her house. According to Police Inspector Abhijeet More, he beat his wife, saying "Why did you go out with friends?" and then stabbed her in the chest.

After the attack, Jyoti collapsed, severely injured and covered in blood. Seeing their mother attacked, all four children began screaming. Hearing the children's cries, their grandmother, aunt, other relatives and neighbours rushed to the spot. It is being reported that the accused also beat Jyoti's sister during this. The injured Jyoti is being treated at Thane Civil Hospital, and her condition is said to be critical.

Vishnunagar police registered a case and arrested Santosh Petekar. The accused was produced before the Kalyan court, which remanded him to two days of police custody.
