The Disha Salian death case has once again heated up Mumbai politics. Disha Salian's father, Satish Salian, arrived at Matoshree on Saturday with his team of lawyers and served a notice claiming 500 crore rupees in damages for defamation against Aditya Thackeray. Aditya Thackeray's lawyers accepted the notice. Following this, MLA Varun Sardesai spoke to the media and put forward his view on the entire matter.

Varun Sardesai is related to Aditya Thackeray as his brother. He said that for the past five to six years, they have consistently maintained that Aditya Thackeray knew neither Sushant Singh Rajput nor Disha Salian. According to him, attempts are repeatedly being made to level different allegations in this case.

Sardesai recalled that the CBI had investigated Sushant Singh Rajput's death case, after which a closure report was also filed. He said several allegations were made in the case, but those making the allegations never produced any concrete evidence.

Speaking further on the Disha Salian matter, Sardesai referred to the investigation conducted during the tenure of the then Maha Vikas Aghadi government. He said that after the change of government in the state in 2022, when Eknath Shinde was chief minister and Devendra Fadnavis was deputy chief minister and home minister, a Special Investigation Team, or SIT, was set up during that period to investigate the case.

According to Sardesai, this SIT began investigating the case from 2023. Those who had made allegations in the case were called in for questioning and asked to produce any evidence they had. He claimed that on 14 June 2026, the SIT filed its affidavit in court.

Citing this affidavit, Sardesai said it recorded that the investigation carried out during the first government was proper, and he also claimed that no irregularities were found in the investigation.

Meanwhile, Sardesai also responded to Satish Salian's statement that his side or his statement was not recorded properly. According to him, during the questioning, Satish Salian was simply asked to produce whatever evidence he had, and his statement was recorded multiple times.

With this legal notice filed by Satish Salian and the Thackeray faction's response to it, political accusations and counter-accusations have intensified once again. All eyes are now on what stance emerges on these claims as the legal process proceeds further.
