Dhanteras on November 6: messages of health and happiness to send to loved ones

Dhanatrayodashi falls on November 6 this year. It is observed on the second day of Diwali. On this day, people buy gold, silver, new utensils or some other valuable item for the home. It is said that this keeps the household prosperous and ensures that Lakshmi continues to reside there.

In the evening, lamps are lit in the south direction in the name of Yamraj. The aim is to ward off untimely death and to bless family members with long life. The day is considered especially important for the trading community.
