The Ashwin Navratri festival began on October 11 at the Shri Mahalakshmi Jagdamba temple in Koradi, near Nagpur. A large number of devotees reached the temple on the very first day of the festival to seek darshan of the goddess.
Devotees began gathering in the temple premises from 4 am to seek the blessings of Goddess Jagdamba, who is enshrined in her swayambhu (self-manifested) form.
Devotees from Nagpur and surrounding areas are coming to the temple to take part in the Navratri festival. A special arrangement has been made for swayambhu darshan on the first day. The facility will remain open from 5 am to 10 am.
The temple administration has made arrangements for darshan, security, traffic and other essential facilities, in view of the crowd expected to swell during the festival, so that devotees can move about easily.
The Navratri festival will run from October 11 to October 20. About 5,500 akhand manokamna jyoti are expected to be lit during this period. These are sacred lamps that burn continuously as part of devotees' prayers and wishes.
Lakhs of devotees are expected to visit the temple during the 10-day festival, so managing the crowd is the administration's biggest priority.
The temple administration has appealed to devotees to cooperate with the arrangements to manage the expected crowd. Devotees have been advised, if possible, to avoid the morning and evening rush hours and plan their darshan in the afternoon, so that they have to wait less.
The good turnout on the first day has created an atmosphere of devotion at the Koradi Mahalakshmi temple. During the auspicious Navratri, devotees are gathering here to seek the blessings of Goddess Jagdamba.
