A major opportunity has opened up for athletes preparing for government jobs. The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has invited applications for a total of 521 head constable and constable posts under Sports Quota Recruitment 2026. The force, which comes under the Ministry of Home Affairs, has opened the recruitment for male and female athletes who have performed well in 22 different sports.

The application process will begin on October 12, 2026, and candidates can apply online till 11:59 pm on November 11, 2026. Applications can only be submitted online through the official CRPF website.

Of the total 521 vacancies, 182 are for head constable, comprising 150 male and 32 female candidates. Candidates for this post must have passed class 12. There are 339 constable posts, comprising 258 male and 81 female candidates, for which candidates must have passed at least class 10. For both posts, the educational qualification must be completed by November 11, 2026.

For the head constable post, only those athletes who have represented the country in a recognised international competition, or reached a medal position or third place in the National Games or National Championship, will be eligible. Athletes who secured first or second place in individual events at inter-university competitions, and those who won gold or silver medals at the junior nationals, will also be eligible.

For the constable post, athletes who represented their state in senior or junior national competitions, winners at the National Sports Games for Schools, Khelo India University/Youth/Winter Games, and those who represented their university in inter-university competitions will be eligible. All these achievements must be between September 30, 2024, and September 30, 2026.

The age limit for both posts is 18 to 30 years, calculated as on August 1, 2026, meaning candidates should not be born before August 2, 2003, or after August 1, 2008. The general (UR) category gets a 5-year age relaxation, OBC (OBC-NCL) gets 8 years, and SC/ST candidates get 10 years.

On salary, head constable (GD) will get Pay Level 4, ranging from Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100, while constable (GD) will get Pay Level 3, ranging from Rs 21,700 to Rs 69,100. The application fee is Rs 100 for male candidates in the open, OBC and EWS categories, while women, SC, ST and ex-servicemen are fully exempt from the fee.

There will be no written exam in this recruitment. Selection will be based on document verification, physical standards check, sports trials and medical examination. The minimum height requirement is 170 cm for male candidates and 157 cm for female candidates. For male candidates only, the chest must measure at least 80 cm unexpanded with a minimum 5 cm expansion, though certain categories will get relaxation in physical standards as per rules.

To apply, candidates must first visit the official CRPF recruitment website, rect.crpf.gov.in, upload their sports certificate, correctly fill in personal and sports-related details in the online form, pay the Rs 100 fee where applicable, and finally submit the form and keep a printout of it.
