Showrooms at Sitabuldi, Gokulpeth, Manish Nagar and Nandanvan stayed packed from morning to late night as families bought gold.

If you wanted to know where Nagpur bought its gold this Dhanteras, it was enough to follow the crowds. From early morning to late at night, people kept heading to Londhe Jewellers, and the stream of customers showed no sign of stopping.

When the shops opened at 9 am, customers were already waiting, having arrived earlier than usual. Within a few hours, the showrooms at Sitabuldi, Gokulpeth, Manish Nagar and Nandanvan were packed wall to wall. Every counter had customers, every salesperson was busy, and families waited quietly for their turn without going elsewhere.

The scene was the same in all four shops. There were brides choosing jewellery sets for their weddings, young couples buying gold together for the first time, and grandparents keeping up the Dhanteras tradition. Three generations of one family were often seen standing at the same counter. Gold prices have been the talking point of the market through this season, but on the day, nobody at Londhe Jewellers appeared to talk of anything except what to take home.

Yash Londhe, director of Londhe Jewellers, said: "We have seen 37 Dhanteras in this city, but a day like today stays in the memory. Every shop was full from morning till night. Our team did not rest for a moment, and families kept coming. When Nagpur shows this much love, all we can do is say thank you."

For many in the market, the day settled one question: Nagpur knows exactly where it wants to buy its gold. Londhe Jewellers was established in the city in 1989. It has so far served more than 5 lakh families. It is known for BIS hallmark-certified gold and now plans to expand across Vidarbha.

Dhanteras is over, but Diwali is still ahead, and there is no sign for now that the crowds in the shops will thin.
