Londe Jewellers in Nagpur opens advance gold rate booking for Diwali with 25% deposit
Customers pay 25% of the bill in advance and are billed at the lower of the booking-day and billing-day rates, with booking open from October 1 to 31, 2026.
Nagpur: Dhanteras falls on November 6 and Diwali on November 8. Many Nagpur families face the old question of whether to buy gold now or wait for the rate to fall. Londe Jewellers Gold & Diamonds, one of the city's older jewellers, has offered a simple answer.
Londe Jewellers has served Nagpur families since 1989. It has started advance gold rate booking at all four of its showrooms, in Sitabuldi, Gokulpeth, Manish Nagar and Nandanvan. Under the offer, a customer picks a piece and deposits 25% of the bill amount in advance. On the billing day, the customer pays whichever of the two rates is lower: the rate on the day of booking or the rate on the day of billing. Booking is open only from October 1 to 31, 2026.
Everyone has seen how sharply the gold rate has swung this year. On September 30, 22-carat gold in Nagpur was Rs 13,800 per gram and 24-carat was Rs 14,870 per gram. On Akshaya Tritiya in April 2026, the 22-carat rate peaked at Rs 15,300 per gram, which means the current rate is about 10% below that. Over the longer term, 24-carat gold was about Rs 48,651 per 10 grams in 2020 and is about Rs 1,48,700 today, roughly three times in six years.
No one can say where the rate will be on Dhanteras. Festival demand, global cues and the rupee all move it. Even a difference of a few hundred rupees per gram can change the price of a wedding set or a festival necklace by thousands or tens of thousands of rupees. Because of this uncertainty, many families put off their Diwali shopping to the last moment and then buy in a hurry at whatever the rate is.
The offer protects the customer both ways. If the rate rises after booking, the bill will be made at the lower booking-day rate. If the rate falls, the bill will be made at the lower billing-day rate. The advance is 25% of the bill and the rest must be paid on the billing day. It covers 22-carat, 18-carat and 9-carat gold jewellery, natural diamond jewellery and silver jewellery. Billing must be completed by October 31, 2026, but the jewellery can be collected later, including on Dhanteras or Diwali day.
There is less time than the dates suggest. Made-to-order pieces take 15 to 20 days to be ready, and the offer applies only if the piece arrives before October 31. Anyone who wants a custom necklace or bangle set for Dhanteras will in effect have to place the order by mid-October.
Rajesh Londe of Londe Jewellers Gold & Diamonds said, "Every Diwali, families ask us whether to wait for the rate to come down. No one can promise that. With this booking, there is no need to guess. Lock today's rate, and if the rate falls, you will still pay the lower one."
All four showrooms are open from 11 am to 8:30 pm. The Sitabuldi showroom is at Modi No. 2, opposite Datta Mandir, phone 90755 12053.
