CLAT 2027 registration closes today; exam on December 6

Today is an important day for students who dream of getting into the country's leading National Law Universities (NLUs). October 31 is the last date for online registration for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). Those who have not yet applied can fill in the form and pay the application fee on the official website until tonight.

The test is conducted by the Consortium of National Law Universities. It is the main route of admission for those who want to pursue the five-year integrated LLB or the one-year LLM course at various institutions across the country.

For CLAT UG, a candidate must have passed the Class 12 examination from any recognised board. General, OBC and other backward category candidates need at least 45 per cent marks. For SC and ST candidates, the minimum is 40 per cent. There is no upper age limit for the examination.

For CLAT PG, a candidate needs an LLB or an equivalent degree from any recognised university. At least 50 per cent marks are required for the unreserved category and 45 per cent for SC and ST categories. There is no age condition for the PG course either.

The registration fee varies by category. Candidates in the General, OBC, NRI, PIO and OCI categories must pay Rs 4,000. For candidates in the SC, ST, BPL and PwD categories, the fee is Rs 3,500. Those who want previous years' question papers must pay Rs 500 more. Payment can be made only online.

The CLAT 2027 undergraduate entrance examination will have 120 multiple-choice questions, to be answered in two hours. Each correct answer earns one mark, while 0.25 mark is deducted for each wrong answer. The paper has five subjects: English, current affairs, legal reasoning, logical reasoning and quantitative techniques.

To apply, first go to the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in. Click the "CLAT 2027 Registration" link on the home page. Register by entering a mobile number and email ID. Log in with the credentials received and fill in the details in the online form.

Then upload the photograph, signature and other documents in the prescribed format and size. Pay the application fee online according to the category. After submitting the form, download the confirmation page and keep it safe.

CLAT 2027 will be held on December 6, 2026. It will be conducted in offline mode, in a single session from 2 pm to 4 pm.
