A quarrel between children in the Wathoda police station area of Nagpur turned so serious that it left a 36-year-old man dead. Police said the deceased was allegedly attacked with an iron rod and suffered severe injuries.

The deceased has been identified as Shahbaz Ishaq Shaikh, 36. Police have arrested three accused in the case, including a husband and wife.

The incident took place around 9:30 pm on September 21 at Manavshakti Layout in Kharbi. According to police, an argument broke out between Shahbaz and the accused's family over a quarrel involving their children. The argument is said to have escalated, and the accused allegedly attacked Shahbaz.

Police said two of the accused allegedly attacked Shahbaz on the head with an iron rod, intending to cause him grievous injury. He was also allegedly punched and abused.

Shahbaz, who was seriously injured in the attack, was admitted to the ICU of the trauma centre at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Nagpur. He died during treatment on the morning of September 22.

Following Shahbaz's death, Wathoda police registered a case under murder-related sections.

Police initially arrested Waheed Ansari, 35, in the case. They later arrested a husband and wife, Imran Ansari and Rubina Ansari, who had allegedly been absconding.

Police are further investigating the full circumstances of the fatal attack and the separate roles of all the accused.

The incident has also highlighted how a minor quarrel that reportedly began between children escalated into a deadly confrontation.
