Chandrapur City police have booked five men after a chicken shop owner was attacked with a sharp object in Babupeth and his house was stoned the following night.
An assault in the Babupeth area of Chandrapur city has caused alarm. According to the complaint, a chicken shop owner who tried to break up a fight was attacked with a sharp weapon. The next day, stones were thrown outside his house.
The complainant says the stone-throwing damaged the gate of the house and a motorcycle, causing loss of about Rs 8,000. The complaint also alleges that the family was threatened with death. Chandrapur City police have registered a case against five people. Further investigation is under way.
According to police, the complainant, Israil Ibrahim Sheikh, is 23 years old. He lives at Ambedkar Chowk, Bypass Road, Babupeth, and supports his family by running his chicken shop.
According to the complaint, at about 8.30 pm on November 1, 2026, Sheikh was standing near Ambedkar Chowk with some boys. The accused, Chandu Bansakar, Nandu Bansakar, Sujal, Amol Gaddamwar and Guddu Dupare, arrived and began arguing with one of the boys.
Sheikh stepped in to stop the fight. The complaint alleges that the accused, angered by this, abandoned the quarrel and began beating Sheikh. It says that during this, the accused Chandu Bansakar struck Sheikh on the head with a sharp object, leaving him seriously injured. The accused fled the spot on getting wind of the police coming.
Local residents intervened and calmed the matter, so Sheikh did not file a police complaint that day.
According to the complaint, at about 10.30 pm the next day, November 2, 2026, Sheikh, his father, mother and younger brother were standing in front of their house after dinner. It alleges that the five accused came back and began abusing them, venting their anger over the previous day's fight.
The frightened family hurried inside and bolted the door from within. The complaint alleges that the accused hurled obscene abuse outside the house and threatened: "We have to finish you today, come out." They then kicked and beat the house's iron gate with sticks. Large stones were also thrown at the motorcycle parked near the house and at the gate, causing loss of about Rs 8,000.
According to the complaint, the whole incident was clearly captured on the house's CCTV camera. Fearing for their lives, Sheikh called the police for help from inside the house. The accused fled on hearing that the police were coming.
On Sheikh's complaint, Chandrapur City police station has registered a case against all five accused under several serious sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police are investigating further.
