As winter sets in, every woman looks for a good shawl, whether for the office, a party or just to keep the cold away. But a good shawl often costs upward of a thousand to twelve hundred rupees, which puts many women off buying one altogether. Delhi has some markets where trendy, stylish shawls are available for just Rs 100 to Rs 300.

When it comes to shopping in Delhi, Chandni Chowk is the first name that comes up. There is hardly anything you cannot find here, and it is considered one of the best places for shawls. Both warm and stylish shawls are available, starting from as little as Rs 100, which gets you a good stole. Bargain a little and you can get them even cheaper. It gets very crowded, but the collection is just as impressive.

For pashmina shawls or cotton stoles, Lajpat Nagar Market is worth a visit. Designer shawls are available here at very low prices, including embroidered and carved designs. Beautiful shawls can be found here for Rs 200 to Rs 400. The market also has scarves, shrugs and other warm clothing at low prices, making it an ideal spot for college-going girls.

Palika Bazaar is Delhi's famous underground market known for the latest fashion, and the same holds true for shawls. Both office wear and party wear shawls are available here for Rs 200 to Rs 300. The colours and designs are attractive enough to be worn anywhere, from the office to a wedding. It takes a bit of searching, but once you find a good shop, you can easily buy two or three shawls.

Seelampur Market is not as well known, but it is a very good place for shawls. Clothes here are sold at wholesale rates, which keeps retail prices low too. A wide variety of stoles and shawls is available, starting from Rs 150. Dresses, kurtis and other women's clothing are also available here at very low prices, making Seelampur a great option for budget shopping.

Majnu Ka Tila Market is run by the Tibetan community, and its collection of warm clothing is considered the best. Shawls, stoles, jackets, woollen shrugs, tops, frocks and mufflers are all available here, with designs that are distinct and unique. A shawl that costs Rs 800 elsewhere can be found here for Rs 300 to 400, with good quality and plenty of warmth. This winter, instead of buying an expensive shawl, it is worth taking a trip to these markets, where you can comfortably buy two to three shawls for Rs 500.
