ChatGPT adds virtual 'Try On' feature to preview clothes on users before they buy
OpenAI's ChatGPT has launched a virtual try-on feature that lets shoppers see how clothes and accessories look on them using a selfie or full-body photo.
Many people hesitate to shop online because they cannot tell whether the clothes they are buying will look good on them. OpenAI's AI platform ChatGPT has now introduced a virtual try-on feature, with which the company wants to make online shopping more visual.
Users can upload a selfie or a full-body photo before buying clothes. ChatGPT will then show how the clothes or accessories they plan to buy will look on them. The feature appears as a new Try On button in shopping results. Users can also upload screenshots or photos of clothes and ask ChatGPT to create a preview.
According to the company, the new Try On feature uses the recently released ChatGPT Image 2.5 model. The company said the model follows instructions more accurately. While generating images quickly, it can also produce more natural lighting and better textures.
Using it is simple. Users must first open ChatGPT and open a clothing product shown in the shopping results. They then tap the Try On button and upload a selfie or full-body photo for reference. ChatGPT will then prepare a "preview" of them wearing the outfit. The speed at which the image is generated will depend on the user's internet speed.
Besides Try On, the company has also introduced a Favourites section. It lets users save products to their library. Saved products can be viewed again, along with the generated try-on images. ChatGPT can also help put together a complete outfit based on a style description, and can help identify clothes from photos of celebrity outfits.
OpenAI says both features are being rolled out worldwide soon.
