Canara Robeco Asset Management Company Limited in Mumbai has launched a new investor education initiative aimed at students, called 'Yuva Shakti Samriddhi'. The company says the goal behind the initiative is to increase financial literacy among the younger generation, so they can make sound financial decisions from the start of their careers.

According to the company, the initiative's main objective is to give students basic knowledge of savings, investment and financial planning before they begin earning through a job or business. The emphasis will be on building the habit of disciplined investing from a young age to create a strong financial foundation for the future.

Under the initiative, interactive workshops and expert sessions will be held at various educational institutions. The effort will be to explain investment-related matters to students in simple language. The programme will particularly focus on clearing up common misconceptions about mutual funds, savings and investment planning. Students will be given basic information on how to set financial goals and invest in a disciplined manner once they start earning.

Rajnish Narula, Managing Director and CEO of Canara Robeco AMC, said that to build a financially aware and responsible generation, it is important to encourage young people to begin their investment journey early. He said that if students receive investor education before they start earning, it can help them make sound financial decisions from the start of their careers. He said that through 'Yuva Shakti Samriddhi', the company is trying to simplify investment concepts for students and give them the knowledge needed to build wealth in the future.

Alongside financial literacy, the initiative will teach students the '3S' concepts: Systematic Investment Plan (SIP), Systematic Transfer Plan (STP) and Systematic Withdrawal Plan (SWP). Gaurav Goyal, Chief Business Officer of Canara Robeco AMC, said the initiative's aim is to instil three habits in young people: right thinking, right start, right investment. Students will also be made aware of how SIP, STP and SWP can be useful in planning financial goals.

Canara Robeco AMC also said it intends to expand the programme to educational institutions across the country. The aim is to introduce students to financial planning before they enter a job or business, so that they can make informed investment decisions later on. The company said it has previously run investor education initiatives such as 'Nivesh Bus Yatra', the '3S Rap Song', and 'Stree Shakti Samriddhi' for women, all aimed at promoting financial literacy and informed investing.
