Another premium car brand is set to enter the Indian automobile market. Denza, the luxury brand of Chinese electric vehicle maker BYD, will make its India debut on November 13. On launch day, the company may also announce its sales and retail policy in India along with the new car. The electric luxury MPV Denza D9 is likely to be Denza's first car in the market.

Denza vehicles may be positioned in a premium category above BYD's current cars. If the Denza D9 comes to India, it could compete with large MPVs such as the MG M9 and Kia Carnival. The car will also try to attract customers who buy luxury vehicles such as the Toyota Vellfire, Lexus LM and Mercedes-Benz V-Class.

Demand for such vehicles is rising in India because of their large cabins, comfortable seating and premium features. Luxury MPVs are being preferred especially for business travel, long family journeys and use by celebrities.

The Denza D9 is an electric luxury MPV and is likely to come in a 7-seater configuration. It may get a 2+2+3 seating layout. The second row is expected to have comfort features such as captain seats and an ottoman. Likely premium features include three-zone climate control, a premium sound system, full leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, electrically adjustable seats, ventilation and heating in the seats, and ADAS, or advanced driver assistance systems. These are expected to give passengers a more comfortable and modern journey, but the company itself will confirm the final feature list of the model coming to India.

The likely Indian version of the Denza D9 may get a 103 kWh battery pack. It is likely to have a front-mounted electric motor that can produce 313 hp of power and 360 Nm of torque. According to the company's claim, the model's range could be up to 520 km. Which test method the range was measured by, and how much range the Indian model will actually deliver, will become clear after the official announcement. Driving style, speed, weather and use of the air conditioner can also affect real-world range.

The second likely Denza car could be the Denza Z9 GT. It is a performance-focused car and is being talked about for its aggressive design and powerful electric powertrain. According to available information, it may have a 122.5 kWh battery and three electric motors. The motors' combined output is stated to be 1,156 hp of power and 1,210 Nm of torque. The car's likely range could be up to 600 km, and it can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in just 2.7 seconds.

The price of the Denza D9 in India has not yet been officially announced. The company may announce the price, available variants and sales policy at the launch on November 13. If the Denza D9 is launched at a competitive price, a new contest could begin in India's luxury electric MPV market.
