Bus driver beaten with broom at Khemjai stop in Warora; case against Prakash Chaudhari
Police have booked a paan stall owner after an ST driver on duty alleged he was hit with a broom, abused and threatened at Khemjai bus stop in Warora taluka.
The assault on a State Transport (ST) bus driver is the talk of Khemjai in Warora taluka. The driver, who was on official duty, has complained that he was hit with a broom and abused. The incident took place at the Khemjai bus stop on the evening of Saturday, October 3, 2026, when schoolchildren were on the bus. The complaint also says the driver and the conductor were threatened.
According to police sources, Anil Dadaji Dahule (49) is originally from Bhadravati. He has worked as a driver with the ST corporation for 17 years and is currently posted at the Warora depot. At around 5.30 pm on Saturday he left the Warora depot with conductor Rajeshwar Gajanan Dussawar. They were driving bus number MH-40 AQ 6047 towards Yerkheda to drop schoolchildren.
At about 6.15 pm Dahule stopped the bus at the Khemjai bus stop to let the children off. The complaint says a person who had been sweeping in front of a paan stall there suddenly came and stood in front of the bus.
When asked to move aside, the person became angry, the complaint says. The person came up to the driver's door and began hurling obscene abuse, saying "men in khaki are scoundrels". The person is alleged to have struck Dahule on the right shoulder with the broom. When Dahule asked whether the person had been drinking, the person became even more aggressive and told him to leave.
Conductor Dussawar, who stepped in to stop the quarrel, was also abused in foul language, the complaint says. It also mentions a threat: "I will see how you take a bus through your village."
Afterwards the driver asked locals about the person. He learned that it was Prakash Chaudhari (about 37), who lives in Khemjai and runs the paan stall there. Anil Dahule filed a complaint at Shegaon police station over misbehaviour, assault, insult and threats while he was working in government uniform.
On the basis of the complaint, police have registered a case against the accused, Prakash Chaudhari, under Sections 132 (assault or obstruction of a public servant), 296 (obscene acts and abuse), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) and 356(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023. Sub-inspector Sumit Ishwar Kamble is investigating further.
