Both Asia Cup trophies will return to India, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia has confirmed himself. The Indian team recently won the Asia Cup, but the trophy was refused when it was to be received from Mohsin Naqvi. Because of this, the trophy is currently kept at the Asian Cricket Council, or ACC, headquarters in Dubai. Saikia said both trophies would eventually be brought to the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai.

The statement came in a media interaction after BCCI's 95th annual general meeting held in Mumbai. Clarifying the process behind keeping the trophies at the ACC headquarters, Saikia said they were being kept temporarily in Dubai for security reasons and as part of administrative procedure, but would soon be brought to India. Both the Indian men's and women's teams have won the Asia Cup.

Saikia said in clear terms, "We have full hope and confidence that both Asia Cup trophies will definitely come to India one day. I cannot give you any fixed time or date for this, but I assure you with complete confidence that both trophies will eventually reach the BCCI headquarters at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai."

The final of the Women's Asia Cup 2026 was played between India and Sri Lanka at Dubai International Stadium on September 13. The Indian team won the match to claim the Asia Cup trophy for the eighth time. After the final, the controversy over the no-handshake policy with Pakistan flared up again. Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur had refused to receive the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi.

After winning the Asia Cup 2026 final, the Indian team had taken a major decision. The team had refused to accept the trophy from Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board and the Asian Cricket Council. In this way, India once again gave Pakistan a strong response.
