The Bharatiya Janata Party has taken on the Dehu Nagar Panchayat administration over the functioning of the town's garbage depot. The party has submitted a written memorandum to Dehu Nagar Panchayat chief officer Chetan Konde, saying clearly that an intense agitation will be launched if conditions do not improve in the next ten days.

In the memorandum, the BJP wrote that garbage management has become a serious issue for some time in Dehu, a town with the heritage of the thoughts of Sant Dnyaneshwar and Sant Tukaram Maharaj. The party says garbage is being burnt at the depot, and foul-smelling smoke is spreading across the area and increasing air pollution. The BJP claims this is affecting people's health, and that small children and the elderly in particular are suffering breathing difficulties.

The BJP also alleged that garbage from outside the Dehu Nagar Panchayat limits is being brought and dumped at the depot. According to the memorandum, the depot does not have a complete compound wall, so livestock belonging to farmers in the vicinity enter the depot to eat the garbage. The memorandum states that animals have got stuck in the slush, causing financial loss to farmers.

The BJP has also listed its demands. The party wants a security guard to be posted at the depot permanently, and garbage vehicles coming from outside the Dehu Nagar Panchayat limits to be barred from entering it. It has also demanded round-the-clock CCTV cameras in the area, an immediate end to garbage burning with scientific garbage management instead, and a complete compound wall around the depot. The party also said the garbage depot should be at least 1,000 metres away from the main road and the residential area.

The BJP has held the Dehu Nagar Panchayat administration responsible for the entire situation and has given it a ten-day ultimatum. The party has warned that if there is no concrete improvement in this period, garbage will be brought and burnt in front of the Nagar Panchayat office. Vehicles arriving at the depot will be stopped, and not a single vehicle will be allowed to unload. The memorandum also makes clear that the Nagar Panchayat administration will bear full responsibility for any situation arising from the agitation.
