Birla Fertility & IVF in Nagpur completes two years, reports rise in complex infertility cases
The clinic says more patients are seeking treatment for complex fertility problems, delayed conception and age-related difficulties, including couples whose earlier IVF failed.
Birla Fertility & IVF has completed two years offering specialised fertility services to couples in Nagpur and surrounding areas. The clinic says it is seeing a growing number of patients seeking treatment for complex fertility problems, delayed conception and age-related difficulties. Couples who want a second opinion after earlier treatment or IVF failed are also treated there.
According to the centre, it has treated many cases of infertility in both men and women over the past few years. These include low ovarian reserve, low AMH, PMOS (earlier known as PCOS), tubal-factor infertility, endometriosis, fibroids, infections such as tuberculosis and pelvic inflammatory disease, unexplained infertility and pregnancies at an advanced age. Male-factor infertility cases with azoospermia and low sperm parameters are also an important part of the centre's clinical work.
The centre has described a recent case. A woman had 13 years of primary infertility, along with advanced maternal age, hypothyroidism and chronic thrombocytopenia. According to the centre, her previous IVF cycle at another centre had to be cancelled because her platelet count had fallen to 50,000/uL. The centre called this a clinical challenge in carrying fertility treatment forward safely.
The centre says close coordination between the fertility specialist, embryologists and a haematologist was essential in this case. A separate IVF plan was drawn up for ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval while managing the platelet level. Fifteen mature eggs were retrieved, several high-quality blastocysts were created and cryopreserved, and ICSI was carried out with sperm selected using microfluidics. A frozen embryo transfer followed in December 2025. According to the centre, the pregnancy test after the transfer was positive and the case progressed to a twin pregnancy. At five months of pregnancy both foetuses were growing well, and the platelet count remained stable under close monitoring before delivery.
Dr Pramod Madhukar Yerne, centre head and consultant, said on the occasion: "We are seeing a growing number of couples coming to us with multiple fertility factors. These may relate to ovarian reserve, age, male-factor infertility, failure of earlier treatment or an underlying medical condition. In some cases the standard treatment path alone is not enough, and careful coordination between different specialties is needed. Our approach is first to understand the different factors affecting the couple, assess the risks involved, and then plan treatment that is clinically sound and tailored to that couple. In complex cases, careful preparation and monitoring make it possible to move treatment forward with patient safety at the centre of every decision."
Dr Yerne has more than 13 years of experience in reproductive medicine and minimally invasive gynaecological surgery. He has worked on complex cases such as repeated IVF failure, recurrent miscarriage, fibroids, endometriosis and congenital uterine abnormalities. His clinical experience includes more than 1,200 IVF cycles, more than 6,000 laparoscopic procedures and more than 5,000 hysteroscopic procedures.
The most commonly chosen treatment at the Nagpur centre is IVF using the couple's own eggs and sperm. The centre also offers individuals and couples a full fertility evaluation and a personalised treatment plan, with care shaped by underlying causes, clinical history and reproductive goals.
According to the centre, Nagpur has emerged as an important centre for fertility services for Maharashtra and surrounding areas, with patients from nearby cities and districts coming for specialist advice and treatment. To raise awareness, Birla Fertility & IVF Nagpur holds patient counselling, indoor and outdoor camps, community outreach programmes and interactions with doctors. It also runs educational programmes on infertility, early consultation and available treatment options.
