Aprilia has unveiled its new SXR GT 175 and SXR GT 125 scooters in India. The company has started bookings for both across the country. Both models are likely to be launched in the Indian market in October.

The SXR name marks Aprilia's return to its scooter line-up. This time the company has focused more on the GT, or Gran Turismo, style.

The new SXR GT range has been designed for daily commuting as well as long rides. The main design changes are a larger front fairing, Aprilia's LED lighting, a wider seat, new graphics and a redesigned footboard. The new models keep the maxi-scooter look of the earlier SXR models, with a more updated appearance.

The SXR GT 175 will be the premium model in the range. It will have a 174.7 cc single-cylinder engine. The engine is linked to the Aprilia SR 175, where it produces 13.26 hp of power and 14.14 Nm of torque. Aprilia has not yet disclosed the final power and torque figures for the SXR GT 175 coming to India.

The SXR GT 125 will have an engine in the 125 cc class. The earlier SXR 125 had a 124.45 cc engine that produced about 9.6 PS of power. The engine tuning is likely to change in the new GT version.

The SXR GT 125 will come in three colours: Matte Black, Glossy Azzurro and Glossy White. The SXR GT 175 will be offered in Metallic Blue, Matte Black and Matte Green. Together, the two models will have a total of six colour options.

The earlier SXR 125 and SXR 160 had features such as 12-inch wheels, a 220 mm front disc, telescopic front suspension, digital instrumentation, LED lighting and USB charging. Some of these features are likely to continue in the new SXR GT 175. After launch, the scooter will compete with models such as the Yamaha Aerox 155, Hero Xoom 160 and Honda ADV 160.
