Amravati student stabbed on college staircase after refusing to write practical for classmate
A 19-year-old pharmacy student was stabbed twice in the neck at a Badnera college; the accused, a 19-year-old classmate, has been arrested.
A 19-year-old student was attacked with a knife on Tuesday at the Institute of Pharmacy and Research in Badnera, Amravati. The attack took place on the college staircase and briefly caused panic on the campus.
The incident occurred at around 12.15 pm on Tuesday. The student, Prapti, was seriously injured. Her condition has been described as out of danger for now.
Badnera police have registered a case of attempt to murder against Naveen Meghraj Wanwani and arrested him. Naveen is 19 and lives in Sindhi Camp, Badnera. Police acted on a complaint by Prapti's brother.
According to the complaint, Prapti and Naveen study at the same college. At around 12 noon on Tuesday, Prapti came out of class after her practical session ended. The complaint says Naveen followed her and stopped her on the college staircase.
According to the complaint, Naveen asked Prapti to write out his practical for him. When she refused, he lost his temper. The complaint also states that he stabbed her twice in the neck with a knife he had brought in his bag.
After the attack, Prapti screamed loudly to save her life. The college watchman and some students rushed to the spot on hearing her. They caught Naveen as he tried to flee and handed him over to the police.
Prapti was immediately admitted to hospital, where she is being treated. Her condition is reported to be out of danger. Badnera police have arrested the accused and further investigation is under way.
