Amazon Pay lets users buy health insurance online, skips agent calls
Amazon Pay and HDFC Ergo launch a self-service digital health insurance purchase option on Amazon.in
Amazon Pay now lets customers buy health insurance digitally directly on Amazon.in. The facility has been launched in partnership with HDFC Ergo General Insurance Company. No agent will call, there will be no spam calls, and customers will not need to visit an insurance company branch.
The entire purchase process has been added directly to Amazon Pay's health insurance page. HDFC Ergo's Optima Secure+ plan is available on this page. As soon as customers land on the page, they can see what the policy covers and its benefits, and then complete the purchase entirely on their own, without anyone's help, through a guided do-it-yourself (DIY) method. This easy experience has been built on the basis of HDFC Ergo's years of experience, for customers who prefer to work digitally and want to protect themselves from medical emergencies.
On the partnership, Amazon Pay India CEO Vikas Bansal said, "We are pleased to partner with HDFC Ergo General Insurance to offer their flagship health insurance scheme, Optima Secure+. We are expanding our experience in the insurance sector so that it becomes easier for lakhs of customers to understand and buy health insurance digitally. A simple, self-serve experience combined with excellent claim support will help customers make the right health insurance decision with more confidence in just a few minutes. This is also a major expansion of Amazon Pay's insurance services, as we move beyond vehicle insurance and now enter the health insurance sector, which strengthens our effort to easily provide financial security to every Indian."
HDFC Ergo General Insurance MD and CEO Parthanil Ghosh said, "At HDFC Ergo, the customer is at the centre of everything we do. As a digital-first company, our goal is to make good quality health insurance simpler and more accessible. This partnership brings together Amazon's digital reach and our health insurance and claims experience, taking us closer to this goal. It allows customers to understand, choose and buy the right insurance coverage entirely on their own. Through Optima Secure+, customers get complete coverage, backed by our strong claim support whenever needed."
This do-it-yourself digital purchase process allows customers to get information at their own pace, without any spam or unwanted calls. The system remembers the details a customer has already filled in, so customers can continue the process from where they left off. This completely removes the hassle of repeated follow-up calls and having to give the same information again.
In addition, the guided plan comparison feature provides clear information on matters such as room rent limits, co-payment conditions and waiting periods, so that there is no trouble at the time of a claim. The partnership between Amazon Pay and HDFC Ergo is being seen as a significant step towards insurance inclusion, offering an easy purchase experience without any outside help, making good quality health insurance easily available to Amazon's large digital customer base.
