Online shopping picks up pace ahead of Diwali and other festivals, and e-commerce companies are stepping up preparations to meet the rising demand, directly boosting job opportunities. Following Flipkart, fashion and lifestyle e-commerce platform Myntra has created more than 26,000 seasonal jobs. The company said this number is more than double compared to last year's seasonal hiring.

Myntra has made these hires for its Big Fashion Festival, covering roles ranging from supply chain and delivery to customer service. The company said this year's seasonal hiring is more than double that of last year. Of the total seasonal positions, over 350 have been reserved for persons with disabilities. The company also said 30% of employees working at its fulfilment centres will be women.

These seasonal jobs include supply chain related work such as sorting, grading and packing of goods. Besides this, the seasonal workforce also includes around 8,000 delivery partners and 2,700 customer service positions. Myntra has hired people from several states including Odisha, Karnataka, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Jharkhand. These employees will help run the company's operations across five fulfilment hubs in Bengaluru, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bilaspur and Binola, which will handle fulfilment of the company's orders.

Rising online orders during the festive season also increase pressure on companies to deliver on time. According to Myntra, these additional staff will further strengthen its supply chain and delivery capacity. This will also help express delivery services such as M-Express in select locations, which deliver items within 24 to 48 hours.

Earlier, Flipkart had also announced plans to create more than 250,000 jobs to meet rising festive season demand. Of these, around 75,000 positions are reserved for first-time job seekers, that is, candidates with no prior work experience. This hiring drive is linked to Flipkart's network of over 7,000 e-Kart fulfilment centres, sortation hubs and last-mile delivery operations across the country.
