Investigation has shown that Pawan Parashar, who killed Devesh alias Bunty Dixit on a busy road in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, had planned the crime beforehand. The killing stemmed from a struggle for dominance. Pawan had intended to eliminate Bunty at the Ravan Dahan programme at Ramlila Maidan, but changed the plan because of tight police security there.
Bunty and Pawan had been in dispute for several months. Pawan was angry that Bunty was gaining the upper hand in the conflict. Pawan knew that Bunty was active at the Ravan Dahan programme, so he planned to attack him there. For this he also went to a dandiya event and surveyed the area.
Haribhau Bagde, Governor of Rajasthan, was to attend the Dussehra event as chief guest. As a result, there was a large police deployment around Ramlila Maidan. After this reconnaissance, Pawan dropped his plan to commit the murder there. But his anger against Bunty remained, and Bunty was later killed in the N-7 area. This means the idea of killing him was in Pawan's mind from before, and he had made preparations for it.
After the killing, Pawan did not go straight to the police station. He went towards the lane by the government hospital in N-8. While passing near the open ground in front of the Aurangabad District Co-operative Bank, he threw a country-made pistol and nine cartridges from a moving vehicle. The pistol fell into grass along the roadside and was not easily visible. Pawan then surrendered on his own at CIDCO police station.
During questioning after his arrest, Pawan told police where he had thrown the weapon. Acting on this, a team of Sub-Inspector Anil Nanekar and Constable Mangesh Pawar searched the area and recovered the country-made pistol. Investigating officer Yogesh Gaikwad said the weapon had been seized. Police Inspector Atul Yerme said that on Friday the court remanded the accused in police custody for ten days.
Sources said Pawan spoke the language of dominance even in the lock-up. He was reportedly muttering that Bunty obstructed him in every task, considered himself the big brother, and that he wanted to show he was no less.
Meanwhile, Bunty Dixit was cremated on Friday afternoon at the Central Naka crematorium in a mournful atmosphere. A large crowd of residents had gathered. The court has sent the accused, Pawan Parashar, to ten days in police custody in this case arising from the dispute over dominance.
