Krishna Mohite, 38, died on October 23 after injuring himself in custody; CID is probing the case.

Krishna Dnyandev Mohite, 38, who injured himself while in the custody of Karmala police station, died during treatment. The death has caused a stir in the police department. A police sub-inspector (PSI) and two police constables, three personnel in all, have been suspended. The CID has taken over the investigation, and the role of the policemen involved is being questioned.

The case began with a complaint. A woman filed a complaint against Mohite under the POCSO Act and the Information Technology Act, and a case was registered against him on that complaint. Police arrested him on October 20, 2026. The court had ordered that he be sent to police custody.

According to the information available, on the very first day of police custody, October 20, Mohite banged his head against a wall and injured himself. He was immediately admitted to the cottage hospital in Karmala. As his condition was serious, he was sent to the government hospital in Solapur for further treatment. He died there on October 23 while undergoing treatment.

Taking the death of an accused in custody seriously, the case was handed over to the CID. It is said that the deceased's relatives had also demanded a thorough inquiry into the circumstances of the death. The role of the police officers and staff concerned is being examined during the investigation.

The investigating officers had recommended the suspension of PSI Ughade and police constables Randil and Kadge, who were on duty that day. It is understood that senior officers ordered the suspension of all three accordingly.

The exact circumstances of Mohite's death, and who bears responsibility for the incident, will become clear only after the CID investigation is complete. Following the action, the matter is being widely discussed in Karmala and across the police department.
