Sheikh Mohsin alias Baba Tiger Sheikh Musa, who had been absconding since the murderous attack on Nagpur gangster Sheikh Akram alias Bhuru Sheikh Rahman (42), has finally been arrested by the police. Bhuru lives in Anandnagar, Sitabuldi. A team of Crime Branch Unit 2 chased Baba in filmy style and caught him at Shegaon railway station. The police brought him to Nagpur late at night.

The police had earlier arrested five people in the case. They are Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Salim (36), a resident of Burdigalli, Telipura; Shahbaz Khan alias Salman Billa Khan (25) of Tajnagar, Mankapur; Aamir Bashir Sheikh (35) of Jhingabai Takli; Mohammad Sahil Altaf Ansari (28); and Mohammad Toufiq Sheikh Mohammad Arif (28).

According to the police, Bhuru was living separately because of a rift with his wife. It is alleged that Sharif learnt that Bhuru was staying at Hotel Memories at Somalwada Chowk and went there alone at night. Sharif then allegedly planned with his friends to finish Bhuru off. It is alleged that at about 11.30 pm on August 11, Bhuru was rammed by an SUV, registration number MH-40-CH-4777, right in front of the hotel, and the attackers fled.

Hotel staff immediately informed the police and Bhuru's family. Bhuru has been undergoing treatment since. Sharif had not lodged a police complaint about the attack. The Bhuru group did not file a complaint either and was preparing to take revenge, but the Crime Branch got wind of it.

A case of attempt to murder was then registered at Sonegaon police station. The police say the accused had committed several crimes in an organised manner, so a case under MCOCA was also registered against them. Baba Tiger, however, remained on the run till then.

After absconding, Baba kept moving between cities. Earlier information had suggested he was hiding in Khaparkheda in rural Nagpur district, but he could not be found. The police also went to Akola twice looking for him. This time there was firm information that Baba was in Ajmer Sharif, but he set out for Nagpur before the police could leave.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) was also informed and the entire train was searched, but Baba was not found. The police then laid a trap in disguise at Shegaon station itself. During a check of the women's general coach, Baba was spotted on the platform. He tried to run on seeing the police, but they surrounded him from all sides and caught him.

The operation involved Inspector Shubhangi Deshmukh, API Chetan Borkhede, PSI Manoj Raut, head constables Naresh Tumdam, Vijay Yadav, Arjun Yadav, Kamlesh Maner, Manish Tonge, Mangal Jadhav, Ashish Chandre, Sandeep Pande, Vivek Shripad and Pravin Chavan.
