9,265 seats filled in MBBS-BDS second CAP round, 1,931 still vacant
Maharashtra's second round of state-quota admissions for MBBS and BDS fills 82.75 percent of seats, leaving the rest for round three
Of the 11,196 MBBS and BDS seats available in the second round of the centralised state-quota admission process run by the Maharashtra State Common Entrance Test Cell for the 2026-27 academic year, 9,265 seats, or 82.75 percent, have now been filled. The remaining 1,931 seats are still vacant and will be carried forward to the third round.
For MBBS, 7,630 of the 8,579 seats in the second round, or 88.93 percent, have been filled. The state's 42 government medical colleges have a total of 4,980 MBBS seats, of which 4,825, or 96.88 percent, have been filled, leaving 155 vacant. The 23 private medical colleges have 3,149 MBBS seats, of which 2,625 have been filled, leaving 524 vacant.
In addition, the two private medical universities have 450 MBBS seats, of which 180 have been filled, leaving 270 vacant. Across the state's 67 medical colleges and universities, 7,630 of the 8,579 MBBS seats have been filled, leaving 949 vacant.
For BDS, 1,635 of the 2,617 seats in the second round, or 62.47 percent, have been filled. The state's 5 government medical colleges have 317 BDS seats, of which 254 have been filled, leaving 63 vacant. The 23 private medical colleges have 2,200 BDS seats, of which 1,346 have been filled, leaving 854 vacant. The one private medical university has 100 BDS seats, of which 35 have been filled, leaving 65 vacant. Across the state's 29 medical colleges and universities, 1,635 of the 2,617 BDS seats have been filled, leaving 982 vacant.
Taken together, MBBS and BDS had 11,196 seats on offer, of which 9,265 have now been filled and 1,931 remain vacant. The timetable for the third round to fill these vacant seats has now been released.
