55-year-old man stabbed to death on Balikashram Road in Ahilyanagar, attacker absconding

A 55-year-old man was stabbed and died in the busy Balikashram Road area of Ahilyanagar city in the evening. The deceased has been identified as Ravindra Rambhau Chavan (55). The attacker fled after the assault, and the incident has caused alarm in the area.
According to the information available, Chavan was in the Balikashram Road area when an unidentified person suddenly attacked him with a knife. He was seriously injured. The attacker ran away from the spot after the incident.
Seeing the attack on the road, people nearby rushed to help. Chavan, in critical condition, was admitted to the district hospital in Ahilyanagar for treatment. Doctors tried their best, but his condition did not improve and he died during treatment.
On learning of his death, his relatives gathered at the district hospital. MLA Sangram Jagtap also reached the hospital, took stock of the situation and spoke to those concerned.
Police reached the spot on being informed and inspected the site. An investigation has begun to recover the weapon used in the attack and other evidence. Footage from CCTV cameras in the Balikashram Road area is also being examined, and police are trying to establish which direction the attacker fled in.
The reason for the attack on Chavan is not yet clear. Police are investigating whether it was due to an old enmity or some other cause. The incident, in a crowded area in the evening, has left people fearful, and catching the attacker at the earliest is a challenge for the police.
